Honestly, the book itself was pretty funny throughout, but it is also pretty dark. I like darker things, so I'm not going to quote the shit with the meat monsters and the wig monsters and fighting off demons with folding chairs etc. But it's there and you should totally read the book if you can find it. Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut: Didn't like it. I hadn't read it before and since I do love Vonnegut and it's one of those well-known works, I decided it was about time I did. It's one of those books that's all lead-up and no punchline. It took a long time to make its very simple point and was irritating in the process. Thumbs down.

So, I have my surgery tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. (so they say. It'll probably be more like 10:00 or 10:30) and I'm stressed out and freaking out and pretty much just all around out. This thing they're doing to me is where they pass high frequency sound waves through my body to "pulverize" the kidney stone, which I'm supposed to pass through my urine. ( Read more... )
